Follow the journey
As I sit here, drinking the first bottle of my most recent homebrew and reminiscing on the past couple of years, its hard to believe some of the major changes that have occurred in my life. I moved 1,000 miles from home, had a major career change, found the most wonderful girlfriend, and I finally got rid of my first car! But my love for craft beer has not changed, in fact it has grown. I now work part-time at a microbrewery in SWFL, I homebrew any chance I get, and I'm always trying new craft beers.
My first experience with home brewing came in college when my brother and I bought my dad a home brewing kit for Father's Day. He was already into craft beer and I was just starting to appreciate it's complexities. When home on breaks from school I would "help" him brew by stirring in the liquid extract so it wouldn't scorch on the bottom of the brew kettle. But I would get bored waiting for the boil and so I would wander off. I was more interested in the end result... BEER!
Towards the end of my college years my palate began to truly enjoy craft beer (especially IPA's) and that's when I began to appreciate the process of brewing. When I made the move from Pennsylvania to Florida my parents surprised me with a homebrew kit for Christmas. I've been brewing ever since!
I got my inspiration for this craft beer venture from a YouTube channel called The Craft Beer Channel (<---Check them out here!). Jonny and Brad travel the U.K. and check out breweries and try all the new craft beer the can get their hands on. I want to do that....so I am!
I plan to interview craft brewers, conduct beer and home brewing equipment reviews, and also chronicle my journey to opening my own craft brewery!
I hope that you will follow me in this journey. Feel free to contact me via the "About" page with any beers/breweries I should check out or if you just have any general questions!
